One for the History Books

In order of importance:

We had lunch at Chick-fil-A today! First time as an East Coaster. I was so ecstatic that I splurged and bought a little Cow stuffed animal. When they had trouble finding one in the back I offered to swap for a calendar. However, the calendar was more expensive. I told them I was so excited to be there that I didn't really care. I just wanted a souvenir. Right then they found a little cow under the counter and over the counter and into my heart it went. My new best friend. One of the managers walked over and quietly said to the cashier, "Here, this one's on us." She smiled and handed me a free calendar! Now, I since most of the humor comes from the pictures, I can't exactly share it with you all. But those stinkin' cow pictures had me laughing till my tummy hurt. I do so miss Chick-fil-A and I will not allow another year to go by before I go back.

In other news, something magnificent happened in the Church's history yesterday. A small Spanish group opened up in Nashua, New Hampshire for the Hispanic families who have not had the opportunity to learn about the gospel in their native language. It's strange, but it's hard to really feel the fullness of something until you hear it in your heart. Imagine constantly having to translate bits and pieces of sentences and trying to put it all together? It's like listening to your favorite song on a broken old record that skips. Well no more is the case for the people here! Their prayers have been answered!

Elders Berthelson and Johnston are serving alongside Hermana Brown and I. The change will be a step-by-step process and is not yet at it's full potential. We are still split between two ward boundaries and only meet all together for Sacrament Meeting. While the English ward met in the chapel at the same time, we had a wonderfully humble gathering in the Relief Society room of the Nashua building. Javier Lopez-Carrasco was called as the Group Leader and he went back and forth getting everything ready. I sat in the corner and played the piano as everyone walked in and found a seat. We were expecting a small turn out; about 30 or 35 people, but ended up with a total of 58! Already there were three non-members in attendance. One of my best little buddies, Gabriel, will be getting baptized in a few weeks. He'll be the first addition to this new group! The Lord's work is hastening quickly!

When I left for my mission my grandpa Ephraim told me to take good pictures. I took half of his advice yesterday, and took pictures. (Not good ones).

The Elders heading in.

Hermana Brown putting the final touches on the new roster.

One of the sisters arriving for church!

Some members preparing for the service.

Dissembling afterwards.

Many hugs and smiles were shared!

Gabriel, who tried his best to hold back his smile. I broke him with a joke.

It was a truly beautiful experience! We heard many members say that they felt a spirit there that they haven't felt since their own missions years ago. They were right. Something very special was there. I am so honoured to be a part of this work and to see the growth right in front of my eyes!

Time to be going, now.

Love you all!

LIFE IS A MISSION
