Another week went by and I'm blown away at it's velocity. I'm still convinced that everyone, no matter how hard they may try, reaches the future at a rate of 60 seconds per minute and yet I'm not sure how the last week went by in only 24 hours. Strange.
Yesterday at church we had 48 people attend the Spanish Group, although there was a discrepancy between the numbers 46, 48, and 51. I'm not sure which number to believe because I was sitting up front and did not do my own count. Although I'm sure if I had I would have gotten something like 32. So I'm going to settle on 50 and call it square. We lost a few members who decided to go back to the English ward but our elders found four people that hadn't come to church in years who all decided to come back yesterday! It was awesome to see them there! Last week we had a few questions for the Stake President so we texted the Assistants to get his phone number. They told us that they don't normally give out their number because of how busy they are and asked why we needed to talk to him. Right after we read this text another missionary walked in the room and said that President Cooprider, the Stake President, was wandering around. We jumped up and sure enough found him walking down one of the hallways! He invited us into his office and we got to speak with him for about 20 minutes about the Spanish Group and our hopes to get it growing quickly. He had a meeting that same night with all of the Bishops and the next day we called and spoke with two of them, who each gave us some time yesterday to speak with them about making some new assignments and getting this group on the move!
I am happy about all of this because I know that this is exactly what the Lord wants done. It feels good to be here at the right time and to be on the Lord's errand doing what he needs us to do! On top of that I love and have always loved coordinating with higher authority. I loved one-on-one talks with teachers at school, and I loved planning meetings with the BYU-H student body president. I loved talking to my boss when I was an RA and I loved going to correlation meetings when I did marketing for a project at school. I loved having breakfast with one of my managers from Turtle Bay and always looked forward to trainings and conferences. I really love being a part of an organization! It's been the same here on the mission. It excites me to hear about the new happenings and other big news. I get pumped when I hear about problems or challenges. I love taking notes and piecing things together to find solutions.
I'm not kidding. I LOVE this stuff!!
You know what I think it is? I think that I have found a passion for purpose in life. I find purpose in every day, in every action, and in every encounter. I can't imagine life without purpose. What would be the motivation behind waking up? Why would anyone put their effort into a project? What good would come of finding love, and getting married, and having a family? Why on Earth would we be here if it wasn't for a reason? I am sure that there is a very real PURPOSE to our lives. To your life.
Perhaps this idea of "purpose" is what keeps me happy. Did you know that every single night (seriously) since I was 10 (I'm not kidding) I have fallen asleep thinking about my husband and children. (For real). They are the last thing that I think of as my eyes close. Every night as I go to sleep I take a deep breath and a calmness falls over me. I try to picture his face, and his actions. I think of my children and imagine all of their hopes and dreams. I think of them because I am so, so excited to be with them! Just imagining them makes me happy. It gives me a feeling of purpose that I can't yet explain... maybe someday I will understand it a little bit better. You know. Once I actually know what they look like and such :p
For me, my family gives me purpose. I am doing all that I can to be ready and worthy to be his wife, and to take my roll as their mother. They are my motivation and my prize.
One of my favorite things here on the mission is what we call an Auxiliary Interview. It's when we sit down with a church leader and talk to them about their calling and what we can do to help! We ask questions like:
What is your vision for your organization?
What have you done to achieve that?
What are your concerns or setbacks that might keep you from reaching this goal?
It's the same type of thing with any sort of correlation meeting. You talk about the vision, the setbacks, and conclude with what will be done next to keep moving forward. That vision is our purpose.
I don't think it's coincidence that God has a similarly structured plan. In Moses he said,

So how does that tie in with meetings?

I don't think it's coincidence that God has a similarly structured plan. In Moses he said,
the immortality and eternal life of man."
His whole purpose is to get us back to him. Our whole purpose should be returning to Him.
I guess that is something I've been thinking about lately. What is our purpose? What should I do today? What is my next big focus? How can I get out of this challenge? When should I make my next move? They are huge questions and yet the answers can be very simple. We can ask what we should do and God gives us the resources to figure out the answers. The Spirit teaches us the truth of all things and ultimately guides us. In Romans it says,
a light of them which are in darkness,"
I guess that's kind of what I hope to be for others. A guide through the darkness. Maybe the purpose of my life is to be a light to others. What about you? What do you want to do? What's your vision?
Wish we could talk all day and night about it and figure it out together. I know that you are all so much more ahead of me in life. You have children and jobs and business trips and seemingly all is in your favor, but I know that it is not easy. I hope that you know how amazing you are and how much it means to me to have you in my life!
Have a great week!
LIFE IS GOOD
