Hello hellooooo!
I am in SUCH a good mood today! It's been almost 2 weeks since I got on my email and HOLY COW... everyone is doing so great! Important shout-out to Cammie Mutz Easley and (people of the likes of her) don't hesitate to email me. I'll find the time if you do. I know, I know. You're all just aching to talk to me. Haha I don't mean to come across as begging. I am getting plenty of love and support. That is not the issue. The issue is that I keep hearing that people don't want to distract me or take my time and so they don't write/email me. To that all I have to say is CHALLENGE ACCEPTED. Try your hardest to distract me. It won't work, and in the process we'll be in better contact :)in the companionship. Sister Ford is incredible. One of the first days we were together we were studying and I said something that didn't really make sense in my head, and made even less sense when I said it out loud. So I quickly said, "Never mind!" Her response almost made me pass out. "No, I want to understand what your thinking." WOAH none of my trainee's ever told me that. One night I had a killer head-ache and the bus-stop bench was soaking wet. I found comfort in flopping over and hanging there like a total gimp, dangling my arms and head. She said, "What can I do to help you?" WOAH. None of my tranee's ever asked that, either! I love having a companion that has been out for awhile. Every missionary knows their purpose, wants to serve and is focused in their thoughts and actions as far as serving others. It takes a true gem of a missionary to realize that it's not a one-man show. It's our purpose, and our thoughts and actions. Sister Ford has continued to bless me with her funny stories, nerf gun collection, and service. It is an amazing feeling to not carry the whole burden of the area. Transfers came through and neither of us got moved, so we are together for another 6 weeks! The past 3 weeks flew by and we are stoooked to have another 6!
lady, feminine, quiet, gentle. All things that I was not before my mission. Well, I have always been a woman. But I wasn't womanly. I've learned on my mission how truly unique men and women are. And more than that I've learned how important it is that they work together! We have so much to offer as individuals; so many talents and capabilities and perspectives. When we combine these with someone else's, well that's what we call companionship. When you out 4 or 5 together that's called a team. No matter what the numbers are, if you can get your ideas and someone else's ideas to work together... that's called winning. I am so grateful to be a woman. I'm happy as ever making little crafts and leaving notes and brownies on door-steps. I'm a good cleaner and home-maker and I'll do the dishes every day for the rest of my life because I'm good at it! Cheesy smiles and giggling is awesome. Pink is really an okay colour. Skirts are fancy and fun. And shopping... will always be bad.... but aside from that all things feminine and lady-like are awesome. I can't believe I've fought this for so long. That being said, I can't wait to get back and start wearing jeans again and I don't intend on ever buying that much pink. But I'm happy doing it! I'm a woman and I love it! Someday I'll find me a man and he'll do all those big heavy sweaty manly things men always like doing. And when he's tired and I'm frustrated we'll switch. I'll carry the heavy box down the stairs and he can take the kids to the park. We're meant to work together! We are exactly who we need to be. God made us in His image, right? He's not one to make mistakes.
FOR FUN
everyone should go to this channel and watch these videos. All of them.http://www.mormonchannel.org/
is a less active that everyone shakes their head about. She's this, she's that, she'll never come, she'll never change, yada yada yada. We have been visiting with her ever since I got here and I love her more and more each time we go back! She made us hamburgers and had us laughing at all of her stories the other night. We helped her weed her vegetable garden and she was so happy it made me want to do it 10 more times. I know the Lord has things planned for her because we were wanting to ask her to teach Sunday School and when we asked the Branch President about it he just smiled and pulled out an invitation he had made up for her to speak at church! Everyone said she wouldn't accept. Someone asked us, "So how are you gonna ask her?" Expecting to hear our game plan. We just said that we were going to invite her and we really didn't know how but that we weren't worried about it. They kind of just stared at us blankly. So we said, "we'll just see how we feel when we get there and if and when the conversation turns to it we'll invite her to speak! The Spirit will direct us and we'll know exactly what to say." They kept staring at us. Well we went to see her, upon her invitation, and she almost invited herself to speak at church. She said, "Oh everyone would pass out if they saw me standin' up there baring my testimony! Hahaha!" and I opened my backpack and said, "funny you should mention that. I have an invitation right here for you to speak at church!" and she accepted! She was so funny about it, too. She thought she had to memorize the quote that was on the invitation and told us, "when I stand up there I'll probably just... use my own words. That okay?"
How can we expect people to change if we don't change our opinions about them first? It's understandable when you've tried so hard to help someone and they reject you time and time again. God doesn't expect us to go in circles and fail over and over again. But He doesexpect us to love one another and never give up on each other.
