Kenny

ALRIGHT I finally wrote down a list of things to email about! I think I only did it for 2 days, though. So here is at least 2 days from the last week :p
APPOINTMENTS
are super hard to get scheduled. We are most often not people's first priority and yet we live and breath to visit with them. At the beginning of every week we set our plans and goals and decide who we should see that next week. Then we call around as much as we can to see if these people have time to see us. Most often if they say yes, they aren't there when we eventually go. And even more often they don't answer the phone. Then there's always the chance that they'll say that we can come and they really would have been there but we didn't understand their spanish and were confused. However the planning goes, by the time the new week rolls in we are ready to go with our list of friends who we really want to see. This last week we had quite a hefty list and decided to join efforts with the elders. We split our list and set out to get this work done! AND IT WORKED! We saw so many people! Of course there were miscommunications and we got stood-up a few more times than I would have liked. But here is the secret... it's not us that needs to schedule: it's God.

HE knows who needs a visit. He knows when they will be home. He even throws us a bone every once in awhile by sending people to us, rather than us seeking them out. And when we truly ask for His help he makes sure that by the end of the week, everyone in need gets helped.
FEELS LIKE A MISSION
when you're sitting in a strangers home reading the scriptures together. When you're walking down a podunk street in the dark with your companion and tossing jokes back and forth. When you gulp down some sketchy food with not a trace of pain in your eyes. When you are happy every minute of every day because you know that the MOMENT you lose track of that joy, you can pray, and read the scriptures, and find exactly what you need to carry on. When you walk into an appointment and walk out and go, "holy cow... did we just speak Spanish for an hour?!" And of course, when you start to get a little pudge-pudge in your face :)
KENNY
is a guy that bumped into the elders the other day. They were waiting for us outside of our house when he stopped them and asked if he could talk for a bit. When we came out he started telling us a little bit about his life -- it's been rough. really really rough and most of it has been his own doing. He wants to change. He said he knows he needs Jesus and that he needs help. So we stood there silently for a second and then I said, "Kenny, what is the first thing that we can do to help you?" Pray! Pray for me. "Can we pray right now? Are you comfortable with that?" Please do! So we gathered there in front of our house, 4 missionaries and a big brown man huddled together, and prayed for him. When the prayer was over his eyes were wet and he thanked us. We got his address and number and told him that he was not forgotten. We told him that we would do all that we could for him.  That was last Wednesday and we have seen him once since then. I'm not sure exactly what will happen but thus far, I am so happy that the elders were there that day to help find Kenny on the street!  He, like everyone, deserves a chance to change.
That's all I have for now. I love you all and pray for the absolute best for you! Remember how much you matter. Know that God lives. Act on every prompting you get. Believe that we can do all things... with the Savior's help. Never forget how funny I am EVEN though sometimes I write rather dry emails. And never forget how awesome and humble I am :)
LOVE YOU ALL

LIFE IS THE BEST MISSION
