Outpost Status Report

Aloha friends and family!

Well, I've been posted in Alaska for just over a month now. The weather has picked up and the new season is blowing in with all of it's smoggy foggy splendor. I think I heard someone say "It's Spring!" yesterday. I must have lost all perception of season in Hawaii because it does not feel like Spring. As long as there is snow on the ground for eating, though, I am happy!

It's been a pretty exciting week as far as living in an Alaskan Outpost goes. One of the elders got to ride in a car and reported that it was the highlight of the year! We're all happy for him. I got travel plans for my next assignment!
Date of departure: 12 March 2013 stop
Area assignment: Boston, MA stop
Reassignment Commencing: 06 Hundred stop
You parents can expect to receive a call from me around the times of 08 thirty and 09 thirty. That's my guess anyway. So be ready for that! We got to hear from someone *pretty cool on Tuesday. At choir the security was being really tight and they wouldn't let us walk around the building like normal. Elder McClure, who only speaks his mind, said "there better be a general authority coming tonight." as we walked to another building to use the bathroom. And sure enough there was! Elder Ballard came and spoke to the missionaries. He is in the General Authority of the church and hearinig from him is cooler than hearing from the pope. Who, I recently heard, retired? Can... you do... that? Anyway, it was a great talk and I'm so happy I was able to be here for that!

On Sunday my companion and I were called as Coordinating Sisters (female version of a Zone Leader) (we keep track of the sisters in our group and make sure they have everything they need). Procedures require time out of every Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday evenings and every night from 21:30-22:15. I'm loving it though! I love talking to the other sisters and learning from them. Six new sisters came in on Wednesday and we took them through all of their orientation and tours of the base. Made them aware of all the rules and fake rules that we made to terrify them. "Every card swipe [to get into buildings] costs 5 cents. 10 cents if you swipe a red. So be where you're supposed to be when you're supposed to be there. They keep track of where we've been and where we've entered so just remember that and make good choices." We still haven't told them we were kidding. Hahahahaha! This place is so great! I've never felt so safe in my life. Everyone is helpful and kind and excited for us missionaries. It's awesome to see people experiencing their first few days. Especially when mine were only 1 month ago and I barely remember them anymore.

It wasn't all fun and games. Tragedy struck our forces this past week, also. One of our teachers gave us a great lesson, as he always does, and hours later we were informed that he would no longer be joining us. All of the elders were in an uproar, they couldn't believe it, the sisters instantly started mourning for the loss. Yeah. You'd think he died right? Nope. He just got scheduled to teach another class. It's a huge bummer though. He was our first investigator and we had a great connection with him in the classroom. Hopefully our new teacher can add up! She had a rough first night... those elders are pretty upset about the change. Haha, they gave her a run for her money.

I think that's about all I have to report now. It's closing time here on P-day and I better prepare for the afternoon's tasks. Todos de ustedes son en mi mente, corazon, y oraciones. Me encanta este obra. Me encanta mi Padre Celestial. Yo se que no habl´e mucho del Espiritu y mi testimonio en este carta, pero yo lo siento siempre.

PAZ Y BENDICIONES (like Tracy, goi´n to meet peter at the Park!) (Don´t know this? Go to YouTube and look up "Push up bra help me get my man). Oh man... I'm a missionary. But really you should go view this clip which is entirely wholesome and then put "Paz y bendiciones" onto google translate and then laugh because it's hilarious.

LIFE IS A MISSION!!

Over and out!
